Season 2023-2024
Centerstage is the 2023–2024 FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) game, where student-built robots work in alliances to collect hexagon-shaped “pixels” and place them on the backdrop and other areas of the field. Teams can arrange the pixels into mosaics, launch a paper airplane called a “drone” for bonus points, and park or hang their robot from a central structure during the endgame. Each match begins with an autonomous period and continues with a driver-controlled period.
The robot was designed to manipulate pixels by placing them on the backdrop and pushing them across the field. It featured dual servo-operated hooks for hanging on the bar and could also launch paper airplanes, or “drones,” as shown on the right. That year, the team earned second place in the Motivate, Control, and Design awards, won the Innovate award, and advanced to the state competition.
